A colorful amateur choir sings to support values like human rights, diversity of opinions and non-violence. The film accompanies the development of a new program und in doing so discovers the challenges of democracy.
Voices of Dissent are a politically committed fifty-part choir from Vienna. They are organized direct democratically and they state about themselves: “We direct ourselves against war, fascism, violence and oppression. We ask questions and sing out against the lack of interest and against keeping quiet. We prefer to melodize topics that are easily (or even willingly) disregarded in common discussions.”
The lyrics were written by Bärbel Mende-Danneberg, Alfred Komarek and Heinz Rudolf Unger. The choir’s rehearsal director Erke Duit also composed the music for the concert program.
